Math Classes
Algebra I
Algebra 1 or elementary algebra deals with solving the algebraic expressions for a viable answer. In algebra 1, simple variables like x, y, are represented in the form of an equation. Based on the degree of the variable the equations can be categorized into different types, ex: linear, quadratic, cubic...
Geometry
Geometry is concerned with dimensions. You will learn about dimensions 0-3 including points, lines, plane figures, and 3 dimensional objects. Also, proving how we know things to be true in math based on properties, definitions, axioms, and theorems.
Algebra II
Algebra 2 will guide you through linear equations, inequalities, graphs, polynomials and radical expressions, quadratic equations, functions, exponential and logarithmic expressions, sequences and series, and probability.
Pre-Calculus
In mathematics education, precalculus is a course, or a set of courses, that includes algebra and trigonometry at a level which is designed to prepare students for the study of calculus, thus the name precalculus. Schools often distinguish between algebra and trigonometry as two separate parts of the coursework.
Trigonometry
Trigonometry applies algebra and geometry skills to circular and periodic functions. This class typically accompanies Pre-Calculus.
Calculus
Calculus is the branch of mathematics that deals with derivatives and integrals of functions, by methods originally based on the summation of infinitesimal differences. The two main types of calculus are differential calculus and integral calculus.
Finite
Finite mathematics is primarily concerned with applying mathematical problem-solving and reasoning to real-world scenarios, making it a critical area of knowledge for students pursuing careers in business, social sciences, computer science, and other practical career disciplines. This math includes, but is not limited to, matrices, probability, statistics and algebra.
Quantitative Reasoning
This course covers proportional reasoning, modeling, financial literacy and logic and set theory. It focuses on the process of taking a real-world situation, identifying the mathematical foundation needed to address the problem, solving the problem and applying what is learned to the original situation. This includes, but is not limited to, mortgages, IRAs, pre-algebra, and graphs.
College Algebra
College Algebra covers linear equations, quadratic and rational inequalities, and graphing of algebraic functions. It also focuses on solving word problems and evaluating partial sums of series. It includes topics from both Algebra I and Algebra II.
Probability/ Statistics
This class focuses on gathering, analyzing, and modeling data in meaningful ways.
SAT Prep
This course focuses on the Math portion of the SATs with guided reading through the English portions. Helpful resources are provided as well as sample tests.
